Palmer sunset

Caleb drew my attention to the Palmer redux all lit up behind us. An architectural wonder I should think and still recognizable.

Cold war kids

For the second day of SXSW I went with my friends Dani and Jake to Auditorium Shores and ended up running into Caleb and Kara as well. I was looking to take it easy after my apparent bout with food poisoning the night before, and thankfully the breeze and dimming Austin skyline behind the stage coated my insides like pepto. Cold War Kids were meh, and it didn't help that the sound was really low. It got even worse when the Harley Davidson tent behind us fired up their loudspeaker for some auxiliary event.

R.I.P. Midas the Goldfish

Midas the Goldfish died of presumably natural causes on Tuesday. He had been a part of our tank for quite a while. He was the lone survivor of one supply of feeder fish we bought for the Captain probably two years ago now. He was the oldtimer when the new oscars moved in, though they eventually outgrew him. He mostly just scavenged off the bits that fell out of the oscars' mouths, darting around making his "o-face."

Echo and the Bunnymen

Awesome show, I think they're playing two or three more times this weekend.

The Circlejerks

Not too long after this I got hit with dehabilitating nausea for some reason. I was out of commission for Juliette Lewis' set but got back on my feet for the last show...

Some Douche Comedian

Man this guy was a tool. As a joke he crashed out the Circlejerks' drum set twice while they were setting up. Maybe it was him made me so sick.

H.R.

Great reggae/rock show, probably my favorite of the night.

The Gallows

Me, Will, and his buddy Mark went down to Emo's for their evening showcase on Wednesday. Gallows was a british punk band with short songs and a frontman that tried unsuccessfully to start a circle pit and dove off the outdoors bar roof into the crowd. Entertaining.
